I am a physician and started taking propecia 1 mg for about 6 weeks. I noticed a great increase in shedding and eventually stopped. I did some research and realized that studies show that 0.5 mg are jsut about as effective as 1 mg. Anyway, I am now experiencing a lot of shedding- way more than before i started taking anything. I have seen alot of testimonialsfrom people with the same complaint. I have contacted merck multiple times and have never got a return. I have also asked for a literature search on this topic and have never gotten the material. I don't think it is possible that they have never heard of this! I have also asked them about the phenomenon of hyperandrogenicity and telogen effluvium with propecia. Anyway, this increased loss seems to be pretty common. Merck does not mention it as a side effect in any of their literature. I think that there is grounds for a lawsuit if indeed they have been contacted and still refuse to accept the responses they are getting from clients. brical15@hotmail.com
